Secure 256-bit SSL Communication
All communications between iceBackup's Online Backup Servers and your computers or servers are transported in a 256-bit SSL (Secure Socket Layer) channel. Although all your backup files travel through a public network (internet), eavesdroppers have no knowledge of what has been exchanged as all the information is securely encrypted with the latest available technology.
Data is 256-bit Securely Encrypted
All of your files are encrypted from source with your personally defined encryption key before they are sent to iceBackup’s Online Backup Server. To all people but you, files stored on iceBackup’s Online Backup Servers are no more than some files with obscure undefined content.
Furthermore, you have the added choice of different encryption algorithms, e.g. Twofish, Triple DES, Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) which are all built into the iceBackup client software. There is also a choice of different encryption modes, e.g. Electronic Cook Book (ECB) and Cipher Block Chaining (CBC).
Altogether, these advanced encryption methods and algorithms provide you with military grade security for your data, which would take the average intruder billions of years to break. Our server only store the encrypted data which means that only YOU have access to the original backed up files.
Overview of Security Measures
- Point-to-point SSL communication between server and client
- Support HTTP/HTTPS Proxy and Socks v4/v5 firewall
- Data is 256-bit encrypted when stored on backup server
- Choice of different encryption algorithms
e.g. TwoFish, Triple DES, Advanced Encryption Standard (AES)
- Choice of different encryption modes
e.g. Electronic Cook Book (ECB) and Cipher Block Chaining (CBC)
- A random initializing vector, salt and iteration count will be generated by the software automatically when encrypting your data
- Each backup user can restrict online access to their files to from a pre-defined list of IP addresses
